MUA Eyelid Primer

I seem to be loving MUA at the moment. Well, with most items costing £1 you can't really go wrong (well, unless you buy absolutely tons and end up hating it all, which is very unlikely!)

The product I purchased this time though was a tad more expensive at £2.50-eyelid primer, which is apparently new to the collection (as the bright pink 'new' sticker testifies). I've never tried a neutral eyelid primer before and my find that my eyeshadow doesn't last too long (no matter what I wear) so I was pretty excited to try this.

The packaging is nice and simple; plain black with silver writing. I really like MUA packaging. It is sleek and doesn't look cheap at all. In fact, it seems as though Beauty UK (also in Superdrug) use pretty much the same packaging, but their lipsticks are about £3. Why would I pay 3 times the price for a product with the same packaging and less cool name? ;) (Sidenote- if you have tried a Beauty UK product, let me know what you think!)

The main difference I noticed was that my eyeshadow took to my eyelids more quickly. That is, it gave more of an deeper, opaque finish, faster. It made my shadow last longer than usual, for sure, at about 8 hours. So it has had the desire effect and so far I'm impressed!

The only negative is that it has made my eyes feel a tiny bit sore. Not sure whether that is because my skin is sensitive or getting used to a new product. I'll try it a few more times and see what happens.

OOTD- Mellow Yellow

Right, below is an outfit that I will deem experimental. I literally got out of bed and picked 2/3 things from my wardrobe and put them together. Now I was pretty pleased with the result, but when I entered the living room the bf uttered 'you look very 80s clubbing. Like Shirley from Eastenders'. Now, if you happen to know who that character is, you know that that is not a compliment!

Well, let me know what you think- Shirley or something else.

Lifewise, I'm currently in Nottingham at the moment for the Easter weekend. Today we went to Nottingham caves and Nottingham Castle, both of which were interesting and beautiful, but I'll spare you the details for now. Across the road from the castle was a little abandoned 'Mediaeval' cottage for sale (I say Mediaeval, it was moved from it's original location and rebuilt in this one, so...loses it's originality a bit?) and I wanted to buy it and open a little rustic tea and cake shop. Judging from the business the little old pub along the road gets, it could be rather lucrative!

OOTD- Feeling Blue

So the weather has changed, it's a bit chilly and rainy, as, I guess, April should be. To keep in tune with this, I went for a swim at my local pool (60 lengths, it's my number) and wore blue.

The dress is from Topshop, the cardi is H&M kids. The dress I adore, but rarely wear because a) the material is extremely thin (which leaves me chilly) and b) is it a formal dress? one to wear to work? shopping? All of the above? I don't know, and I guess it doesn't really matter. Who needs to categorise?!

I also wore my Loreal Caresse Lipstick in 'Daring Coral'. It is more like a balm/gloss than a lipstick, as it is quite sheer and shiny, rather like the ohsofamous Revlon Lip Butters. I will definitely be purchasing more of these, as they feel lovely to wear, are really moisturising and I love the colours. I think I will get the Tempting Lilac next. And tempted by the Fashionista Pink too, but when I swatched it it looked very sheer. Have any of you lot tried this? What do you think?

OOTD -Lunch at The Wolseley

Having a bit of time off of work means that I can be a lady that lunches. And yesterday I went to one of my favourite restaurants in London- The Wolseley.

The last time I went there I had the most delicious pumpkin soup ever and sat opposite David Walliams and David Schwimmer (Ross from friends- I had a bit of a crush on him during the Friends era). Today, however, the only celeb I saw was Trinny Woodall from What Not to Wear- remember her anyone? No...? She had sunglasses on inside which made me scoff. Sunnies inside?! Who do you think you are- a celebrity?! ;) Bit silly, tis all.

NOTD- Nails Inc in Caramel

Even though it's approaching summer, I feel like a more demure, muted colour on my nails-a nude for the nails if you will- after weeks of vibrant colour (teamed with a bright coral on my lips of course). With this in mind, I opted for a colour I absolutely adore; Caramel by Nails Inc

I got this polish free with 2 diet cokes a few years ago. Diet coke AND nail polish- yes please!

OOTD and Cute Little Cafes

So I'm having a lovely chilled day, the type I like really. Sun outside, a trip to a little cafe and of course an afternoon walk.

Here's what I wore for the occasion:

*floral playsuit from Beyond Retro
*Oversized black cardi (I used to wear this with everything-I have 2!-before I dared to wear colourful cardis)
F&F for Tesco

For a late lunch we wandered along to the little cafe at the end of our road. This is what I love about living where I do- we can just walk to the end of our road to find lots of lovely little quirkly, independent cafes and bars (even though I do love a good chain- Starbucks anyone?)

I had the hugest smootie in the world. Portion sizes are getting bigger all the time it seems, or is that just me?

Twas yummy though- blueberry and banana flavour. 

There is a beautiful little garden out the back which I love visiting. Would be great when it gets a little bit warmer. I'm one of those weirdos that gets freezing cold straight after eating.

I'm off to play Just Dance 3 on the Wii- I love it! It's such a good workout as well as good fun. My bf is too good at it so I need to get in some extra practise ;) Yay for time off of work!

London! Being a Tourist in my Hometown

My bf's sister and her fiance came to stay with us this weekend and encouraged us to venture outside of our usual London experiences (er, walks in either Regent's Park, Hampstead Heath or Camden Town, which, although lovely, can get a bit samey) which was wonderful! I still get so excited when I catch sight of the majestic Big Ben or lofty Tower Bridge. It makes me feel like a little girl/tourist and I just want to take pictures of everything! I think I was more excited than some of the actual tourists....

We started off with going for a spot of lunch at the INSANELY busy Borough market. Said place is a food market, with lots of little speciality stalls selling things such as cheese, yummy looking cakes and pies at the aptly named 'pieminister'- yup, the best of the best pies, haha.

It's just a really lovely, rustic market. I would definitely recommend a visit, just for the free samples on offer ;)

This goes part way in showing just how busy it was. We ate our lunch near in the beautiful church yard in the background of this photo. Even though I am not religious, I appreciate the architecture of churches-this one is just stunning.

I ordered a halloumi burger for lunch, though it didn't actually contain much halloumi, so I will rename it the gigantic salad burger. It was still yummy though.

As you may know from my previous posts, I am rather a fan of pigeons. They remind me of London, home, and look funny when they do human things, like walking through the zoo, popping off a tube train...er eating cigarette butts. There were a few in the churchyard that we ate our lunch in, also dining along with us

After lunch we pottered along the Thames path, past Tower Bridge (where I got OHSOEXCITED) and took a few photos. Want to see? Oh, ok then.

As we walked along, we came across a giant anchor, marvelled over it and then posed next to it. As you do.

After the excitement of Tower Bridge and the giant anchor, we went to the design museum, where we saw the 'designs of the year' exhibition, which comprised of things like a crate chair, a packaway living room chair made for those who have to move home at short notice, the new design for the interior of  emergency ambulances (which enables 360 degree access to the patient- would've thought they'd done that ages ago! It's also very clean looking) and an inflatible helmet. Kate's wedding dress was also up for the accolade (though we only got to see a bit of the material used). Photos were strictly prohibited though, so you'll have to make do with my poor descriptions-sorry!

They also had an exhibition on about Terence Conran, who was a designer, eductor, all round bloomin amazing man. In fact, he founded the now almost defunct Habitat, the ever trendy (but expensive) homeware store. I don't think enough was made of it's history when the media reported that it had gone into administration like they did with Woolworths.

Conran wanted to make simple designs that perhaps wouldn't win any prizes but wouldn't go out of fashion either. I think he succeeded in that one- look at his stylishly simple teapots:

I feel a lot more 'sympathetic' towards Habitat's state now than I did before. We have one at the end of our road (one of the last 3 left) and I've bought a few things from there, but mainly consider it to be too expensive. Nice to know its history, though sadly I don't think it can compete with the giant IKEA who have taken over the market for home goods.

Anyway, I have waffled on too much and thank you if you have read this far. I will be your tour guide around London if you ever come! ;) I like showing the love for my hometown.

I will be around here more often over the next few weeks as I have some time off of work. YAY :)
